Defense Cuts

Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen is preparing a warning in his annual report urging NATO members to be aware of the dangers of too many defense cuts. He worries that cutting too deep in the pocket could cause defense industries to crumble and leave NATO members vulnerable. This comes after a continued crippling of the European economy and the sequestration in the United States. He also discusses the defense spending inequality between the US and Europe, and between certain European NATO countries over others. Rasmussen is troubled by the increasing growth of China's defense spending and their more aggressive actions in Southeast Asia.
